Calming and Energizing Breath Meditation

I know for myself over the holidays there are many times throughout one day where I need to stop and relax or stop and recharge! I love to have family in my home to cook for and care for, but it can also be stressful and depleting. I’ve gotten better over the years at stopping throughout the day for mini-breaks to energize or calm. Sometimes it’s simply by myself in the bathroom or if I’m lucky I sneak off in to a quieter space and actually take 5-10 minutes and use these simple breathing techniques to care for myself. I’m always amazed at what 5 minutes can do!  I hope you try this quick calming and energizing breath meditation at home over the holidays! “Simple it is,” says one of my teachers!

Ujjayi Breath Technique

Have you ever felt out of control? Your mind is racing and you can’t stop the random thoughts that are bombarding you. You start to feel anxious or overwhelmed. This feeling can come from an actual situation or from just thinking about something in the past or the future. Your thoughts can activate your nervous system, but your breath can help you to regulate it! That is the power of breathing! YOU CAN CHANGE THE WAY YOU FEEL SIMPLY BY CHANGING YOUR BREATH!!! That, my friends, is EMPOWERING!
